Neurology & Neuroscience
Mechanism-directed work in neurodegeneration.
Department Family: Neurological & Behavioural Medicine
Neurodegenerative disease — Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, ALS — alongside general neurological assessment and management.
The investigational work in this division is neurotrophic and mechanism-directed rather than aimed at protein clearance: the loss of the brain's own trophic support precedes measurable structural change by years and is not addressed by therapies targeting amyloid. The clinical service covers assessment, biomarker and imaging interpretation, and longitudinal management whether or not a patient is a candidate for a protocol, which is the more common outcome.
