Veterinary Surgery & Interventional Procedures
Access, in the animals that cannot be asked to hold still.
Department Family: Companion Animal Medicine
Soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, and image-guided interventional procedures including biopsy, ablation, and vascular access.
Interventional technique matters more in veterinary practice than in human practice for a practical reason: every procedure requires general anaesthesia, so reducing the number and invasiveness of procedures directly reduces risk to the animal. Image-guided delivery also allows therapy to be placed precisely — intra-articular, intra-lesional, or intra-arterial — which is how most regenerative and investigational agents here are administered.
