Veterinary Gene Therapy
Adapted from the human platform, and investigational in every species.
Department Family: Genetic & Advanced Therapeutics
Gene-directed treatment for inherited and acquired disease in companion and large animals, using the same vector platforms, constructs, and manufacturing as the human programmes.
The scientific advantage of veterinary work is real and worth stating: dogs develop spontaneous disease that resembles human disease far more closely than any induced rodent model, in outbred populations, with shared environments and compressed lifespans that make outcomes observable in years rather than decades. The corresponding obligation is that this is investigational medicine, and owners are told so directly. No gene therapy is approved for the longevity, musculoskeletal, or age-related indications described here, in any species, in any jurisdiction.
