Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging
Objective measurement, in patients who cannot describe symptoms.
Department Family: Companion Animal Medicine
Radiography, ultrasound, CT, and MRI, with interpretation by clinicians trained in both human and veterinary imaging.
Animals do not report symptoms, which makes objective imaging disproportionately important — disease is frequently advanced before behaviour changes. Imaging here also provides the outcome measurement for advanced protocols: joint structure, tumour burden, organ volume, and muscle cross-sectional area are measured rather than inferred from how an animal seems at a recheck.
