Small Animal Internal Medicine
The evaluation that decides whether anything else is appropriate.
Department Family: Companion Animal Medicine
Diagnosis and management of internal disease in dogs and cats — renal, hepatic, endocrine, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and immune-mediated conditions — delivered as conventional veterinary medicine to a referral standard.
This division also performs the assessment that determines candidacy for every advanced programme here. An animal with untreated systemic disease, organ dysfunction that makes a dose unsafe, or a condition that conventional treatment would address better is not a candidate, and identifying that is the point of the evaluation rather than an obstacle to it. Owners are told when the answer is standard care, and that is a common outcome.
