Camel & Working Animal Medicine
A species with real veterinary need and almost no dedicated advanced medicine.
Department Family: Equine & Large Animal Medicine
Clinical care for racing and breeding camels, working dogs, and other animals with an occupational role, concentrated in the Gulf operations.
Camel medicine is underserved relative to the animals' economic and cultural significance: much of the available literature is limited, and advanced diagnostics and therapeutics developed for horses have rarely been adapted to camel physiology, which differs substantially. The same applies to working and service dogs, whose musculoskeletal demands and career-limiting injuries resemble those of performance horses more than those of household pets.
The anti-doping position stated for equine medicine applies identically to racing camels.
